As a regular, if infrequent (about 4 times a year), visitor my comment is that this hotel is starting to look "sad". Automatic doors at entrance are now hand operated with a sign requesting you to close them again. Problems with the keycard operating the lift. Television in the room not working fixed for the following night. Leaking washbasin not. A good point the crispy bacon at breakfast, if on, is still good!

Great location, with rembrant square round the corner, liedsesquare down the road and red light district over the amstel. There were even some quality coffeeshops on and around the road Best Western Eden is on, just out of the sleeze of the RLD. i recommend: Old Amsterdam just round the corner, great for the seasoned smoker!! If you need special arrangements at this hotel, the service drops dramatically. Tea and coffee were not in the room, and had to be called for. The cleaner would then take all our unused cups, so we had to call again... EVERY NIGHT!!! and they kept bringing kettles, when all we needed were cups!!!!!

Hotel was all one could expect of a 3Star. BIG PROBLEM - They did not have our Venere reservation when we arrived! Allocated a Smoking Room overnight - not pleasant. Sorted out the next day. Reason given - computer systems not 'talking' to one another. Still really don't know who was at fault.

I had impression hotel had become standardised since being taken over by Best Western. Bar was very bland compared with previous visit in 1992 and lunch menu in restaurant was non-existent. Room was very small and expensive considering breakfast (about 10 euros) was not included. Only room service meal available was pizza!
