Overview: Overlooking the lagoon from a privileged position, Hotel Metropole offers luxurious accommodations, utmost comfort and an enchanting atmosphere, just a short stroll from Saint Mark’s Square.

Welcoming and intimate, the hotel is comparable to a small museum. lt boasts an eclectic collection of rare visiting card cases, antique fans and art objects. Distinguished by its personality and history, Hotel Metropole occupies a fascinating Venetian palace where great names of the past such as Freud, Marcel Proust, Thomas Mann and Vivaldi, have once stayed. The hotel is also preferred by contemporary celebrities such as Lou Reed, Annie Lennox and Grace Jones.

Hotel Metropole is set in the historic centre of Venice, within easy reach of the most important attractions in this unforgettable city. Its strategic location allows you to discover the wonders of Venice by leisurely exploring its charming streets and canals.

Rooms: While no two rooms of Hotel Metropole are the same, all feature period furnishings, fascinating collector’s items and a carefully designed ambiance. A variety of styles is found in different room types, always with a refined and welcoming atmosphere.

Classic Double/Twin Room - Please, specify your bedding preference.

Furnished in a classic style, classic double rooms are intimate, comfortable and welcoming. Interiors are adorned with precious velvets and period furniture, enriched by antique fans from the hotel's private collection. These rooms overlook the hotel's internal garden, the canal, or the characteristic Calle della Pietà.

Bathrooms are mosaic-tiled or finished in fine marble. Courtesy Gilchrist & Soames toiletries are available.

Junior Suite - Junior suites are spacious and decorated with original period furniture and antique paintings, prints, and fans. Typical red and bronze Venetian fabrics made by Bevilacqua decorate the walls, which makes the atmosphere extremely warm and welcoming.

These rooms boast a sitting area, with comfortable table and divan or comfortable armchairs, with a spectacular view of the lagoon, the canal or the internal garden.

Courtesy Gilchrist & Soames toiletries are available.

Suite Garden View - All different, though all of them decorated with original period furniture as well as with numerous antiques, valuable silks and Venetian velvets.
These rooms boast a nice sitting area, with coffee table and divan or comfortable armchairs, with a spectacular view of the lagoon, the canal or the internal garden.

Courtesy Gilchrist & Soames toiletries are available.

Exclusive Suite Lagoon View - These are the most fabulous rooms in the hotel: elegant and sophisticated, they have truly unique features and a warm atmosphere. Each of these rooms was given a different name that underlines their specific character, their leit motiv, their soul.

The Damasco Suite features stunning mosaics in hammam style, summoning an Eastern atmosphere. The sitting room is endowed with a marvellous mosaic bath.

The Suite Dei Nobili is a brightly-lit suite with a fascinating golden colour that spreads over its
furnishings and decorations. An antique portrait of two noblemen gives the room its name.

The Porta d’Oro Suite shows an attractive contrast of warm colours that grants a special, refined atmosphere. Giving the suite its name, the dominant feature is a 17th-century golden door separating the sleeping area from the lounge. Three large windows overlooking the lagoon illuminate the room and offer an unforgettable view.

Bathrooms are decorated with mosaics in mother pearl and are provided with every comfort including a superior set of toiletries, soft bathrobes and slippers.

Quadruple Room -

Deluxe Double/Twin Room Lagoon View - Please, specify your bedding preference.

Classic Double Room for Single Use - Furnished in a more classic style, Classic Double rooms are intimate, comfortable, and very welcoming. These rooms can be used as single rooms.

As no two rooms in the Metropole are the same, every Classic Double Room is different. Walls are covered with fabrics in shades of red and cream and decorated with period prints or fans from the hotel's private collection. Elegant Venetian fabrics have been used for the bedspreads and super soft cushions, and the rooms are furnished with authentic pieces from various periods.

Rooms are provided with safe, mini bar, sat TV with radio, direct phone with internet access and a pleasant view over the hotel's internal courtyard garden or the canal.

Bathrooms are spacious and elegant, fitted with spacious showers or bathtubs. They offer superior comfort, with soft sponges, hair-dryer and complimentary Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

Deluxe Double/Twin Room - Consistent with the Metropole style, each Deluxe Double Room is unique in its décor and ambiance. These rooms are tastefully decorated with superior fabrics and fitted with antiques from the hotel's own private collection. Renaissance and Belle Époque canopies are featured, as well as pieces in 20th century styles including Art Deco, 1960’s design and Bianco design.

Deluxe Double Rooms feature spectacular views of the hotel's internal courtyard garden or the side canal.

The spacious and elegant bathrooms, decorated with precious marble or Bisazza mosaic tiles, boast spacious showers or bathtubs. They offer superior comfort, with soft sponges, hair-dryer and complimentary Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

Family Room - These rooms are very spacious (between 25m² and 30m²) and comfortable. Overlooking the side canal, each has large bed and two single beds. Suitable for families, they can be fitted with a cradle with pillow and soft linen. Baby-sitting services and toys are available on request.

In addition to the facilities listed, this accommodation is equipped with internet direct access.

In the bathroom you will find a hair dryer and complimentary toiletries.

Junior Suite Lagoon View - Junior suites are spacious, impressive rooms endowed with a sitting area fitted with coffee table and sofa or armchair. Each one of the rooms is unique in its décor, featuring antique furniture and objects from the hotel’s private collection.

Some of the junior suites have beautiful, furnished private terraces overlooking the rooftops of Venice. The spacious bathrooms are decorated with marble and offer superior comfort with soft bathrobes, slippers, courtesy toiletries, special bath salts, scented incenses and a Murano glass vase with cotton pads.

Exclusive Suite Canal View - These rooms feature large windows with views of Canale della Pietà, where at times you can see gondolas on their way to the lagoon.

The Suite Desiderio is a jewel of classic aristocratic elegance.

The Suite Gli Angeli has a gloriously theatrical decor, a match for anything Hollywood can offer.

The Queen Anne Suite, the most romantic and most Venetian in style, is inspired by the bedchambers of the past - such as the great seducer Casanova would have loved.

Bathrooms are in Carrara, Verona and pink Portuguese marble. They offer superior comfort, with complimentary toiletries, soft bathrobes and slippers.

Our trip to Venice was a 60th birthday present for my father and one that none of us will ever forget - for all the right reasons. First class hotel, well looked after, in a fantastic location. The hotel is one of a kind displaying an incredible range of antiques and collectables that can only be gathered over decades. The hotel garden was an added bonus and a spectacular setting for a pre-dinner drink by candlelight. The 16 course banquet comes highly recommended, a once in a lifetime chance to try such delights as fois gras ice cream served with red wine sauce and caviar served on vodka jelly!!

My husband and I stayed at Metropole as per a recommendation from my parents. The hotel staff was exceptionally accommodating. Each of the rooms is decorated in its own aesthetic, which made the experience feel unique, like a small B&B (as opposed to a larger chain hotel stay). The breakfast included was more than adequate (if you're used to European breakfasts). Metropole is very close to piazza San Marco; walking distance to the Rialto Bridge. With that proximity convenience come loads of tourists. My husband and I walked long and far to see "real" Venice -- where real Venetians live and eat, rather than experiencing the Orlando-esque masses of white sneaker wearing tourists. But, if you're looking to sightsee the attractions, Metropole is a terrific location.

Great location on the lagoon but away from the huge crowds. Only a few minutes walk to San Marco, and right at a vaporetto stop. Breakfast was very good with many choices. Room 401 is great. Large with an amazing patio overlooking Venice with a view of the lagoon. We found the service to be excellent and would definitely stay at the Metropole again.

Location and accessability super. Breakfast choice very nice. Restaurant imaginative. Room cosy but small. Very good value for money. We would be happy to stay there again.

Absolutely fantastic hotel! The staff were extremely friendly & helpful & the ambience was wonderful. The hotel is located 5 minutes from St Marks & 2 minutes from the water transport. The lounge area is so beautiful & a lovely place to relax after a busy day. We would definitely stay here again as it's so typically Venetian &, as I've said before, the staff were fantastic. Thank you. :-)

The Metropole is a great choice for a stay in Venice. It is located within easy walking distance of the Basilica San Marco, the Arsonale and is convenient to vaporetto stops. The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. Our room was on the third floor--very quiet, decorated beautifully and overlooked a side canal. We took advantage of their water taxi service from the airport since this was our first trip to Venice. While it was expensive (180 euros),the Metropole has its own private dock entrance and it was a treat to step off the boat directly into the hotel. The restaurant was lovely and was obviously a favorite choice for some Venetians. Be sure to re-confirm your reservation directly with the hotel; when we e-mailed them before our trip with a couple of questions, they couldn't locate our reservation at first--finally found it & all was fine. We would definitely choose the Metropole again.

We had a great room -- #409 has a balcony directly overlooking St Mark's Basin. Thoroughly enjoyed the welcome note and basket of fruit in the room, even when we arrived at 10pm. Great buffet breakfast. Fantastic location just 250 meters from St Mark's square. Super service from friendly staff.

This hotel is excellent. What you see in pictures on the website is far exceeded in person and the level of service far exceed all of my and my husband's expectations. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The atmoshpere within the hotel is that of royalty. There is no question, we will stay at this hotel every time we are in Venice. Our stay couldn't have been more perfect.

Just returned from 2 nights at the Metropole Venezia (Sept. 2005). Wonderful, stylish hotel, lovely location convenient to Piazza San Marco but away from the noisy crowds. Our room was on the back side of the hotel but beautifully furnished, comfortably spacious and perfectly clean & well maintained. Hotel staff were uniformly cordial, helpful and promptly responsive to all our requests. We dined at the Metropole restaurant our first night. Excellent food & service with an atypical twist on Venetian cuisine. Food was beautifully prepared, served in slow courses as it should be; not the rushed "tourist" service sometimes found in Venitian restaurants. However, the menu is for those with a sophisticated palette who enjoy nouvelle cuisine. We felt it was rather expensive with a three course dinner for two and a mid-priced bottle of wine around 300 Euro. Well worth it for a special experience with a menu sure to intrigue. We wholeheartedly recommend a stay at the Metropole Venezia and hope to stay there again ourselves!

Loved the setting. The rooms were romantic - my friends loved the acessibility to everything. Morning breakfast staff could have been more friendly, but not necessarily a negative just something that was noted. All in all very happy with the hotel. Would recommend.
