People at reception were not friendly at all. Room was not very quite, not because of outside noise, but noise made by other guests in rooms close to mine. Price of Euro 200 per night was not fair. I made a reservation for six nights including one weekend, and while at the hotel I entered the page of venere and rate for that same night was Euro 170. This is not fair for venere costumers.

The only thing that annoyed me - and it annoyed me a lot - was that my room, otherwise wonderful, had no accoustic separation from the hallway. From outside on the street side, it was perfect, but from the inside... My room (314) was opposite a service store (towels, sheets, etc) and the staff were very noisey when they met there. The problem could be simply solved by replacing the bedroom door with a door that didn't have a gap at the bottom ( between the door and the floor).

The Service and location of the Hotel was excellent. The views from the restaurant on the Grand Cananl were magnificant. Location to Saint Marks Square was easy to get to. We would consider staying there again. Using youre web site to book hotels was effortless. Thank you for providing this service. We have told a number of friends about your site.

We were very pleased with the Monaco. The price was high, but in line with other 4 stars in Venice. The concierge services were excellent and informative. The rooms (although no view) were exceptionally quiet, comfortable and clean. We paid for a taxi from the car park (not prearranged, $100 euro, VERY expensive), but on the way out of the city, the concierge called a taxi for us, $65 euro and a much nicer boat. The location was impeccable, on the grand canal, next to a gondola and bus service and a 30 second walk to St Marks. We would stay here again. Venice, even with all of the tourists, is still my favorite Italian city after 4 visits.

The staff at this top quality hotel were friendly, helpful and efficient. A nice touch was the complimentary bottle of bubbly sent to the room, having noticed that one of our party was celebrating his 60th birthday that day. My only slight critiscm would be in regard to the complimentary newspapers available in the lobby, a British national daily paper would have been appreciated in addition to the American, German and Italian papers. Overall a very enjoyable stay, We would reccomend this hotel for service, quality and location. Paul Watson

ROTTEN ROTTEN ROTTEN. That is how we felt after our stay at the Hotel Monaco Grand Canal. The truth is, the hotel staff was adequately courteous, but the restaurante staff is so rude and obnoxious, that if you plan on going outside to the terrace for dinner or drinks, please wear very thick skin. WHERE DO THEY GET THESE RIDICULOUS WAITERS FROM?? I'll tell you...the restaurant manager. He cares ZERO about hotel guests. His only concern is to move people thru the restaurant and keep them moving. And he employs waiters with the same attitude. After complaining TWICE about TWO separate incidents (one where a waiter yelled at my wife), and requesting to the hotel concierge to speak to the restaurant manager TWICE, he never called me or left me a message. We had booked 4 nights and we stayed two nights, then left and booked a room at the Bauer Palazio for the final two nights. Low and behold, courteous staff at the Bauer's canal restaurant. What a concept! In addition, the room value at the Bauer was far far better than at the Monaco. We had Room 746 at the Bauer for E319 per night (a Monday and Tuesday), which was a top suite with a large patio. At the Monaco, we had a room which bareley fit the bed and two small windows for E260 per night. At the Bauer Palazio, it seems they upgrade you automatically if they have the space.

There are good and bad about staying at the Monaco. Rooms are small! We even had a deluxe room and though it was obviously bigger and not uncomfortably small, we still had 2 twin beds pushed together rather then the King we had requested. We had no view, unless you call the wall outside the window a view. The concierge at first seemed a little unfriendly, when we approached him with a question he actually questioned us if we were guests, he however seemed satisfied when he found out our room number was not the least expensive in the hotel. Once everyone realized we were guests the service became remarkably better. The great part of the hotel is that it is in an absolutely fabulous location, the hotel itself is beautiful and right on the Grand Canal and close to San Marco which is where everything is located. The bar is great with a terrific staff and lots of people. Another great ammenity is the concierge had a private boat take us to Murano Island for a private tour of one of the glass companies. However, don't be fooled, your private guide is a salesperson and if you truly do not plan on spending any money you may feel very uncomfortable. We were shopping for Art Glass however, so we had an enjoyable afternoon bargaining with them and working out a couple of deals. We would stay here again, if you are looking for a 4 star hotel in Venezia that will be easy to get to from the station or airport then stay here and don't worry about the room or upgrade a couple not just one level and ask about a view. Whatever you do, do not get a hotel that does not have it's own private dock, as nothing seemed more miserable than hauling luggage around the city looking for a number that isn't there, it is a waste of time and who wants to wander the streets with luggage when it is much more fun to get lost without all the extra baggage. If you are looking to get masks there is a lovely mask shop over the Rialto bridge on the left before the Florida Cafe that had great handmade masks

Our trip to Venice was for myself, my wife, our daughter (19) and son (17). Before booking I read several reviews about the Monaco, which seemed mixed, so it was hard to be sure what lay ahead - "one man's meat is another man's poison"! But I have to say that we had a great time in Venice, and couldn't fault the hotel. The staff were knowledgeable (reception, concierge and restaurant) - we found them all very friendly and helpful, whilst still maintaining an air of class that you'd expect in a hotel of this price. Maybe some guests who left negative comments can't reconcile the two? For us the balance was just right. Not knowing the hotel before the renovation, I didn't miss the old set-up, and found the rooms (deluxe) very comfortable, and the public areas had a good blend of modern and traditional. The location is great, and to eat and drink on the terrace by the canal is to die for! It's not cheap, but if you can accept that part of the joy of Venice is to roll over and enjoy people taking your money, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who likes understated style. Finally, we went with the intention of taking the waterbus from the airport - guidebooks recommend it for value. But if you're spending this much on the hotel, I recommend the water taxi. You don't queue (the bus is packed after the plane comes in), and you get dropped off at the private jetty. One of our best moments was taking lunch on the terrace with a bottle of wine on the last day, then being whisked away by water taxi to the airport - just like in an old film! Enjoy....

We had a wonderful stay at the Monaco e Grand Canal Hotel in Venice. The rooms were lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfectly situated, just a couple of minutes walk from St Marcs Square. The rate for the room was excellent (your rate beat expedia). I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is beautifully decorated. It's located in the heart of San Marco and literally a step away from a watertaxi stop. We booked a 'superior' room, it was a nice room but we were disappointed that it didn't have a canal view for the pricey rate we paid. Plus we asked for a double bed and got two singles instead. So when checking in you need to specify with reception.
