Description: Location. The Hotel Palma is located in Pompeii, Italy, home of the famous Roman site engulfed by an eruption by Mount Vesuvius. The Circumvesuviana station Pompeii Santuario is opposite the hotel and has regular services to central Naples.
Hotel Features. The Hotel Palma is a modern building with classical façade. The top floor has a solarium with hydro-jet pool and panoramic views of Mount Vesuvius. The marble-tiled lobby is furnished with chandeliers and armchairs, and offers use of safe-deposit box at the 24-hour front desk. Wireless Internet is available throughout.

The restaurant at Hotel Palma serves traditional and modern Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. Vegetarian and children's menus are available. A continental breakfast buffet including Neapolitan pastries is complimentary. The bar serves drinks and cocktails 24 hours a day.

Guestrooms. The 29 guestrooms at the Hotel Palma have a classical antique-style decor, and are air- conditioned. All have satellite television, wireless Internet, direct-dial phones, safes, and minibars.

Expert Tip. Pompeii was engulfed by a catastrophic eruption by Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and it was not until 1748 that excavation and reconstruction began. Fiorelli, who led the dig in 1860, used a technique of injecting plaster into cavities in the layer of ash to recreate the forms of the human victims who had occupied those. Some can be seen in the Garden of the Fugitives.

The hotel is for sure one of the best places to stay in Pompei. The room was very spacious and had a parquet floor, instead of the common carpeting. The Scavi are in walking distance. Recommendations for a good restaurant have proved excellent. There was a parking space for our car and the employees were very competent and friendly. There is no hurry at breakfast, so if you come in the last minute you will receive everything without any complains. Not so good: the bed was a bit too small for two persons. The heating was too hot. But outside it was cold at that time, so it was possible to open a window.

Excellent location, close to pompei scavi, many shops in the surround and easy access to highways to salerno and amalfitana coast. The services were great!

It probably the only place to stay in Pompeii. Just a 2 minutes walk from the surprisingly pleasant town square and all the better restaurants. It has a feeling that the standards are being maintained - at a cost of staff nerves in some cases, but it means that you are getting a very pleasant place to retire to after a days sighseeing at the ruins.

Do not try to find this hotel on Liberation Day! Probably quite straightforward at any other time as it is in the centre of town.

The location of the B&B 1/2 block from the rail station meant that we were able to walk there, even with our heavy luggage. Air quality was good, and the streets were less crowded there too. Breakfast was fine, and the room was always well cleaned. Staff at the front Desk were very able with directions, and printed us a rail scheduel when we wanted to go to Paestum. Tedisco, a restaurant with excellent food for cheap is just diagonally across the town square. The entrance to the ruins is conveniently near too. We'd stay again, without hesitation.

Excellent hotel. Two problems however: the imprecise directions given by the hotel caused quite a bit of panic -- not warning us to take the line which arrives at Pompei (Cathedral), we got off at Pompei Scavi train station, the usual destination for tourists, but a few km away from the hotel. By 6 PM there were no more taxis, so getting to the hotel was rather tricky, and took us an extra 90 min. THe other problem was the very high strung manager, who became very agitated when we got to the restaurant 30 min late, having changed our minds about dining at the hotel restaurant. However the food was very good and we recommend it. The staff were all very nice and efficient and the room was lovely. All around, a very good hotel.

This hotel is a paradox; it is clean, spacious modern and even well located to activities, restaruants and the main Pompei Entrance; however, it suffers from unwanted noise of garbage being picked up at 4:00 a.m. and the bad habit of the reception desk personnel being chain smokers within the premises. I don't recommend this Hotel for the above reasons.

Nice enough hotel. A short taxi ride from the ruins. We did have a very nice dinner the one night we stayed there.

Very nice hotel, exactly what we wanted and expected. Only problem was they did not speak English and communication was difficult but this may have been because it was out of season and their staff was limited then. Would stay there again.

Nice hotel. It is very near to the "scavi di Pompei" so we went walking and this is a very important advantage in a town like Pompei. It is also near the main restaurants.

This hotel was very nice and in an excellent location. We could walk to the "ruins" of Pompei and we were within a block of the "town square" where all the people (young and old)gather to converse, shop, drink wine, eat, shop, etc. The staff at the hotel had our room available aarly and we had a parking space for the car next to hotel. The balcony was another nice feature for sitting out in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the people. The breakfast the next morning was fine as well. This was by far the best stay we had in Italy and Pompei was a "fun" place to spend some time. Just one other comment...I think directions (showing streets on the website)) to the hotel would be helpful. We were fortunate to find someone to assist us in going the right direction, so we had no problems.

The hotel and service are very nice, though a bit expensive. Breakfast was good. Our only problem was that it was about a 15-20 minute walk from the Circunvesuviana Train Station that stops at the Pompei ruins (and the entrance near the Forum of the ruins). (It is across the street from another Circunvesuviana Train Station, but that station did not connect to the line that stops at the ruins.) Other than that,a nice hotel.
