Very nice decor, bad service. $30 for overnight parking that they do not tell you until you check out. Lamp in room did not work. Wireless network did not work. Called the front desk they told me to call another number. There was a busy signal at first then called again answer machine said leave a message the mailbox was full. Called back an hour later it took about a half hour to get fixed. Pool area was great!

Convenient and beautiful hotel but this hotel is meant for adults, couples, and singles. Parking was valet and 30 dollars plus tips per day. Nice clean art deco type of hotel.

The hotel was wonderful. The valet parking, however, was $35 before tip. We found some off site parking and parked our car for $20.00. The staff should be more honest in helping people with this issue.

The hotel is very nice and located in a great location we enjoyed the evening walking around the Gas Lamp District going to shops.

Very nice location, close to restaurants, convention center, and shopping. The staff was helpful. The $30 parking was a bit too much but everything else was okay.

This hotel has a modern, eclectic vibe. I especially appreciated the professional, yet unpretentious staff. Everyone was warm and friendly at every encounter. The location is ideal for anyone who wants a ton of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. Ideal hotel for going to games at Petco park or meetings at the convention center. Limited things for children, but the pool is very nice and no one seemed bothered by having children around. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

This is a very nice, sophisticated hotel. Great for a romantic getaway. I have only good things to say about the decor, rooms, staff, and restaurant. Even though, I asked for a room that could accommodate two adults and three young children, 3, 5, and 7, a room with a single bed was too small to do so. A room with two beds would have been perfect, but none were available when we checked in. Fortunately, we sent one child to stay with his grandparents in another room. Alas, I cannot really complain, since it's a very nice hotel, with a king-size bed, and the four of us slept very well. It is generally difficult to find a hotel room in a 4 star hotel that sleeps a family of five, with three small kids, comfortably. The price was great, and I would stay at Hotel Solamar again.

Hip, upscale hotel in great location in gaslight district. Beautifully appointed rooms and a caring staff.

The rooms were spacious and the bedding very comfortable. There was a Jacuzzi tub in the room, nice robes too. The decor was cutting edge modern but with a very comfortable vibe. Staff was friendly. The bar at the pool was nice, had a view of Petco park. Location is fantastic, in the heart of Gas lamp. Overall, a very nice well appointed hotel. Highly recommend! Would like to go back for leisure as I was here on business.

This was a great hotel to stay at. It is located a couple blocks from Petco Park and in the middle of the Gas lamp District. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Staff was excellent as were the accommodations.

The accommodations were fantastic and, for the most part, the staff was very attentive. There was one cocktail waitress by the pool that was not friendly at all. And, unfortunately, the pool area is not suitable for children. It is really a bar atmosphere.

We had a great experience at Hotel Solamar. My husband and I took our young adult son so the style and feel of the hotel was perfect. Our son is extremely sensitive to cat dander and I was a little nervous knowing they allowed pets, but this was not an issue at all. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The only negatives were the higher than average cost of guest parking and limited but expensive breakfast menu.

Great location in Gas lamp; beautiful hotel with extremely comfortable beds. I would definitely stay here again. I arrived with my spouse and 2 years old at 11:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. I was worried the outside noise from the many nearby bars/clubs would keep us up but I was wrong. Very quiet. Front desk staff was wonderful. My only complaint is the high charge for parking. This hotel has a well-known bar/club and I presume the parking rate is high because locals frequent the bar and utilize the hotel parking; guests should receive a reduced rate. Valet parking at $30/night is just too much.
